Gulf Oil Spill

In response to the many queries that come to my office regarding the problems we are facing during these challenging times, I am commencing blog and twitter pages so that we may be in more frequent contact with one another.

I look forward to sharing with you some thoughts about current events from an astrological point of view. I hope you will find my employing these resources to be helpful.

Currently we are struggling to cope with the oil spill in the Gulf which has devastated the people of the region with a ripple affect across the globe.

As many of you will recall, in my yearly forecast at the beginning of 2010, I explained that the Ketu, (south node of the Moon) and Saturn aspect would bring significant problems in the way of natural calamities.

This is because in the U.S.A. Natal Chart, Ketu began transiting the 7th House, Gemini aspected by powerful Saturn from November, 2009. The U.S. natal chart has a number of planets deposited in the 7th including Mars and Jupiter reflecting a hub of activity focused in the 7th. Therefore this transit negatively impacts the U.S. in many ways including what we are elaborating below.

This Ketu/Saturn transit will be operating until April-May 2011.

The 7th House, among other things is about relationships, generally between the U.S. and foreign countries. Here it indicates obstacles, opposition and problems.

Both Ketu and Saturn are malefic in nature, and in this circumstance, because Saturn is influencing Ketu, and Saturn has something to do with nature, (as in mountains, woods, trees, oceans, rivers etc.), one of the effects of this aspect is that it brings nature into focus.

So, logically, one can see how the force of Ketu, the most malefic planet, combined with the natural malefic Saturn suggests a tremendous power for creating problems in the natural world.

Unfortunately, whenever Saturn is involved, there is the element of protracted suffering. This is the nature of Saturn. Saturn at its essence is slow-moving requiring patience to the extreme.

Ketu is the most malefic of all the planets, and in this case it is connected with a Saturn which is expressing its malefic side. This signifies that in this circumstance Ketu is expressing its most negative nature. We are talking about something very powerful here.

Hopefully the transit of Jupiter in the 4th House of the U.S. chart from May, 2010 to May, 2011 will bring some solace, however it has been disappointing to observe that there has been no visible indication that significant relief from Jupiter is forthcoming. It is possible, however, that commencing in May there has been some behind the scenes movement towards a solution to this crisis which has not yet come to fruition or public notice.

Since Jupiter is a very powerful benefic planet, its transit influence in its own sign, Pisces will have some positive impact in due course.

In terms of recognizing what we are up against here….the enduring effects of Saturn are legion, and Ketu is a powerful malefic force. Their combined energies cannot be underestimated.

I regret to be initiating my first blog on such a somber note, but this constitutes my perspective on the astrological issues regarding the Gulf oil spill.
