Solar Lunar Eclipses

Dear Friends,

Now that I have a blog, my intention is to offer an ongoing commentary regarding noteworthy astrological configurations as they arise. Beyond whatever way this information may be helpful to you in your daily life I hope that over time you will become more familiar with basic concepts in Vedic astrology and how they operate. Vedic astrology is such a fascinating study! (Yes, it is true that I have some prejudice.) But it is also true that some knowledge of the rudiments will deepen your understanding of your own chart which is certainly a good thing.

If I had not been traveling I would have alerted you to the recent lunar eclipse of June 26 followed by the solar eclipse on July 11. Whenever the solar and lunar eclipses occur within a span of two weeks time it is an indication that there will be some negative influences felt throughout the globe.

Eclipses are moments in time when the energy of the luminaries are blocked, an event which can have far-reaching consequences to life on earth. If the two eclipses occur within a narrow time frame, this is when the negative effects are strongly indicated. Typically the effects of eclipses last for somewhere between six months and a year with regard to the affairs of any given country.

Regarding the United States, both eclipses influenced the 1st house, (Sagittarius) and the 7th house, (Gemini) of the USA chart although the influence was greater on the 7th. The 7th house being the house of friends and enemies would indicate that there will be some consequence with regards to the war in Afghanistan as well as America’s relationships with other countries. Essentially, the eclipse indicates a shift which reduces the positive perception of the United States in the eyes of its friends and allies.

The negative effect of the eclipse is stronger if the chart of the country as well as the chief executive’s chart is in a negative formation with regard to the eclipses.

As far as President Obama’s chart, (based on birth data which makes him Capricorn rising), the eclipses influenced his 6th and the 12th houses which are considered negative houses suggesting more struggle for Obama in dealing with inimical situations in the months ahead.

Therefore, the influence of the lunar/solar eclipses to the United States as indicated by both the USA chart and that of President Obama is not a favorable one.

The effect of the eclipses on any given individual depends on their particular chart. If the eclipse affects the 1st, 2nd, 7th or 8th houses this will typically result in some consequence, depending, of course, on other factors. If the eclipse is of particular consequence to the individual the effects will generally last for a period of six months or so.
